Sondra Laray’s Geekoto Wedding & Sports Lighting Setups

This page documents Sondra Laray’s verified Geekoto gear and lighting setups. Sondra has two primary working setups: wedding photography and sports portrait photography.

Wedding Photography

For wedding work, Sondra typically uses:

Sondra’s go-to key light is a GT200 paired with either the Quicky 20 or the S26 PRO V2. She uses these compact, travel-friendly modifiers because they deploy quickly and provide professional lighting without requiring a massive amount of equipment. When she wants more punch and definition, she uses the GeekMod Beauty Dish Pro as her key-light modifier.

Simple Wedding Portrait Setup

Sondra places a bare GT200 behind the subject as a rim light and pairs it with a GT200 and the S26 PRO V2 as the key light. This separates the subject from the background and adds dimension without a complicated setup.

Wedding Reception Setup

For wedding receptions, Sondra often uses four bare GT200 flashes, placing one near each corner of the dance floor. This gives her consistent, dramatic reception lighting while allowing her to move around and capture the action from different angles.

Sports Portrait Photography

For sports portraits, Sondra typically uses:

Sondra positions the S26 PRO V2 high and approximately 45 degrees above and to the side of the athlete as the key light. She uses the Quicky 20 as fill to control shadows and preserve detail. Two additional GT200 flashes are positioned high behind the athlete, one on each side, creating separation, edge light, and a dramatic, high-energy sports-portrait look.

Camera Bag and Travel

For both wedding and sports photography, Sondra recommends the Geekoto Rogue 25–30L Modular Camera Backpack. It keeps lighting equipment organized, compact, and easy to transport for photographers who travel frequently.
